In 1997, Patterson moved to the NFL with stints in New England, Minnesota, Dallas, Cleveland, and Denver. He returned to college in 2008 with stops at UNLV, UTEP, and FIU. Patterson returned to the NFL in 2014 with the Minnesota Vikings and moved to the New York Giants in 2022, where he continues to coach the defensive line.
