Class of 2021

Bob Beers

Grizzly Great, NFL Veteran Scout

Even though Bob Beers spent plenty of time in Western Montana, he has traveled a lifetime of miles with the NFL.  He graduated from the University of Montana in 1970 as an All-American linebacker (the first ever All-American from U of M), and he and his teammates were inducted into the Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame.

“It's something magic about the city of Missoula and the stadium on a Saturday afternoon or a Friday night in Missoula, Montana. I don't think there's any place like it in America. They're just passionate about their football."

While he's never strayed too far from Montana, for the better portion of the last two decades he's been an NFL scout working for the Broncos, Lions and most recently, the Texans.  Beers says he's always been impressed with how Montana players have been able to adapt to professional football. He has a couple of Super Bowl rings to show for his efforts. Bob Beers retired from pro football in 2016.

Now it’s full circle, back in Butte after coaching at Butte Central, U of M Western and the Grizzlies. Beers coached in the 1975 Montana East-West Shrine Football game.
